ABOUT BANDIPUR


Bandipur is an ancient Newari Village, situated 9 kms above Dumre Bazaar at an altitude of 1030 meters. This ancient trading post lies cradled in the saddle of the country's most peculiar-shaped hills. Untouched by modernization, and laced with an abundance of ancient houses, temples of great significance, historical architectures, this medieval-era town boasts of festivals all year around besides offering a plethora of cultures.

The neighboring village with majority population of Magars, Gurungs, Brahmins, Chhetris, Damais, Sarkis contributes to the cultural diversity of the region. The hilltop town not only overlooks the incredible expanse of the Marsyangdi river valley but also offers a breathtaking sweep of the Himalayan range, from Langtang in the east, and the great Chitwan plains to the south, among others.


The major attraction is Thanimai Temple which is a 15 minutes hike on foot from the Shrestha Hotel. One can glance beautiful Sun Rise as well as Sun Set from here with a range of beautiful Himalayas. Besides Siddha Cave, which has been known for the biggest cave in South Asia so far. A 1hour and 15 minutes hike from the main Bandipur Bazaar is really a worthy place to see.
